Adam Cornick

Adam Cornick is a British-born surf, landscape and outdoor photographer based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He grew up in Dorset on England’s south coast, then moved to Falmouth in Cornwall to study for a fine art degree. It was there that his two passions, surfing and art, came together, and they have shaped his work ever since.

After graduating, Adam spent years chasing summers: travelling the world during the UK winters and returning home each summer to work and save. In 2008 he settled on Canada’s Atlantic coast, where he works as a freelance photographer, author and artist.

It’s the harsh winter surf of his adopted home that has caught the eye of the wider surf community, as cold-water surf travel has grown in popularity. His distinctive wide-angle “surfscapes” capture empty line-ups, winter storms, dramatic light and the scale of Nova Scotia’s rugged coastline, placing surfing within the wider landscape rather than simply showing the action.

Alongside his surf photography, Adam works across landscape, tourism, travel and outdoor adventure photography. He is also the photographer behind the book Coastal Nova Scotia: A Photographic Tour, a celebration of the province’s coastline and coastal communities.
