About Jason
Jason Childs is an Australian surf photographer, photojournalist and licensed drone pilot based in Pottsville, New South Wales. Working professionally since 1985, Jason has built an international career spanning surf, travel, documentary, portrait and aerial photography.
Jason moved to Bali in 1993 and spent more than two decades living there, developing a deep connection with Indonesia’s waves, people and culture. His extensive archive captures defining moments in Indonesian surfing, from world-class waves and elite surfers to the landscapes and everyday life surrounding them.
A former senior staff photographer at Surfer Magazine, Jason’s photography has appeared across many of the world’s leading surf publications and commercial campaigns. His work combines technical precision with a strong sense of place, bringing viewers into the water, landscape and culture rather than simply recording the action.
