About Joshua
Joshua Tabone is an award-winning surf photographer based in Port Macquarie on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia. A self-taught photographer, Josh began shooting as a teenager while bodyboarding with friends, developing the instinctive knowledge of waves, timing and positioning that continues to shape his work today.
Known for keeping his images natural and relying on what happens in front of the lens, Josh captures surfing with a strong sense of movement, atmosphere and authenticity. His portfolio spans powerful ocean action, remote surf trips, striking line-ups and quieter moments surrounding life in the water.
Josh’s work has been featured across leading surf publications, including Stab, Tracks, Surfing World and The Surfer’s Journal. In 2025, he received one of Australian surf photography’s highest honours when he was named Australian Surf Photo of the Year.
Based in Port Macquarie, Josh travels internationally to document remarkable waves, talented surfers and the unpredictable moments that make surf photography so compelling.
