About Clara
Clara Jonas is an illustrator, designer and surfer based in Cornwall. Born in Dorset, she moved to Boscastle in North Cornwall as a child, took up surfing as a teenager and went on to study graphic design at Falmouth University. Her work grows out of a life lived alongside the sea and nature, woven with ancient myth and folklore.
Her illustrations often show powerful women on almost mythic waves, alongside wild animals and constellations. Developing ideas from sketchbook roughs before finishing them digitally, she has created designs for Boardmasters, H&M, Finisterre, Boardies and Longboarder Magazine, and painted a mural across the shipping containers of a pizza spot beside Watergate Bay.
