About Sean
Sean Davey is a veteran surf and water photographer originally from Tasmania and now based in Kahuku, on Oahu’s North Shore. He began taking photographs in 1977 and started contributing to Australian surf magazines in the early 1980s, building a career in surf publishing that has lasted more than 40 years and produced around 180 magazine covers worldwide.
When the surf publishing scene faded in the early 2000s, Sean rebuilt his business around fine-art photography. Since then he has sold thousands of prints and canvases to collectors around the world.
He specialises in coastal photo art, shot both in and out of the water, and chases extraordinary light, which sets the tone for his most popular work. His extensive archive documents surfing’s people, places and culture while reflecting a lifelong connection to the ocean.
