Owen Walker

Founder and Editor, QUIVER
I'm a surfer. I grew up in Devon, first tried surfing at Watergate Bay in Cornwall when I was 11, and didn't properly start until my early 20s' (annoyingly). These days I split my time between the Gold Coast in Australia and the south west of England, and I've got a van full of boards in both places.
Why I started QUIVER
I bought a house and wanted to fill it with cool surf art, though finding it was genuinely hard. There were cheap, generic, mass-produced posters everywhere that weren't 'core' or authentic to surfing. There was also a handful of brilliant authentic surf artists with almost no way of being found, so I built the gallery I couldn't find: curated, surf only, and set up so the artists actually get paid on every sale.
That's the whole idea. A surfer building the paying platform that surf artists never had.
I absolutely love surfing, it's my whole life, and wanted to build something that immerses me in it even more!
Before this
I founded Science for Sport (a sports science education company) in 2016 and sold it to Catapult Sports in 2020. It grew to have thousands of members from professional sport teams from all over the world, over 100,000 monthly readers, a podcast, and and so on. I hold sports science degrees from Cardiff Metropolitan University. If you want to know more about me (which I highly doubt), feel free to take a look at my dull as dishwater Instagram profile (@owenwalker___).
I like to publish random stuff I'd like to say about surfing here on the QUIVER Journal.
